“… My need to study illustration and animation is driven by my passion for art and making images that move physically and emotionally. I wish to learn to create art that stands alone without words and preconceptions. I have a desire to inspire viewers and other artists with my work. I would love the opportunity to study illustration and animation in order to become successful in my future careers. I feel that achieving a degree in my chosen subjects will enable me to reach my full potential.
The work I have selected shows evidence of my artistic abilities, usage of different media as well as my skill for re-creating form and structure with style and accuracy. I have chosen work that is both realistic in its appearance and is suggestive. Most of my work is energetic and animate, showing character and heart as well as proficiency. Some of the works I have included are from life drawing sessions and live briefs that deal with both 2 and 3 dimensional work.
One of my favourite works is “Forest girl”. This piece was initially an experimental exercise studying the properties of different paint. It incorporates the raw beauty of the female form emerging from a chaotic setting. I love this piece as it demonstrates passion and energy. Each second I was painting was exciting.
“Eldine Dance” is a study that I am very passionate about. It demonstrates energy, dignity and pride. I love that the figures look enigmatic, content, and carefree, capturing the confident quality of the life models I worked to form make the figure appear realistic relaxed and full of life. ...”
Ultimately, I want to work in a professional context, creating pieces with a purpose.
